Prisco’s picks for NFL Week 9: Commanders stun Vikings; The Saints upset the Ravens; The Bucs beat the Rams to break the skid

I did it. I finally did.

I had a good week.

That’s the only way to describe a week where I went 7-0 with my best bets as part of the Pick Six podcast, 8-7 ATS with my expert picks and 11-4 straight.

It’s true. My best bets were undefeated, baby.

The other areas weren’t as good, but there was progress. The 7-0 improves my best betting record to 27-20 for the year, with my ATS record now 58-61-4 and my straight record at 68-54-1.

For once, there is no misfortune or sadness. Now comes the hardest part: trying to start all over again.

I say it’s been two good weeks in a row. Are you ready for this?

Featured Game | Houston Texans vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are undefeated and playing at a high level. The Texans don’t play anywhere near that. But it’s a short week, which can challenge the road team. The real challenge with the short week is for teams preparing for the Eagles offense. That’s the difference here. Jalen Hurts continues to play well.

Take: Eagles 33, Texans 13

Featured Game | Atlanta Falcons vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers just got a bye and they need to start their passing game. The down throws weren’t there. They’ll be back for the Chargers in this one. The Falcons have been a surprise this season, leading the NFC South. They’ll be running all day at the Chargers, but I think Justin Herbert is finally getting the passing game started in a big way.

Take: Chargers 34, Falcons 26

Featured Game | Chicago Bears vs. Miami Dolphins

This is a second straight road trip for the Dolphins against an NFC North team. They beat the Lions last week, throwing him all over the pitch. It won’t be as fast a track, which will slow them down a bit. But I still think the passing game will be too much for the Bears. The dolphins take over.

Take: Dolphins 30, Bears 20

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured Game | Cincinnati Bengals vs. Carolina Panthers

The Bengals looked bad losing on the road Monday night to the Browns. The offensive line has been battered. The Panthers are playing back-to-back games on the road, which won’t be easy. They play better with PJ Walker at quarterback and I think their defense, especially with that front, keeps them in this one.

Take: Bengals 26, Panthers 20

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured Game | Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers

The Packers actually showed some life on offense last week against the Bills, which is a good sign. The Lions defense could be the perfect tonic to really get them going. Detroit can score on offense, so this game could be scored more. Give me Aaron Rodgers to finally put some numbers together and win it.

Take: Packers 31, Lions 27

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured Game | Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are playing their second consecutive game on the road, while the Jaguars are back at home after losing to the Broncos in London. The Raiders failed to score a point in the loss to the Saints which is concerning. Trevor Lawrence didn’t play well, which is also a concern for Jacksonville. I think that’s changing here. The Jaguars win it.

Take: Jaguars 24, Raiders 20

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured Game | New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Patriots impressed by beating the Jets on the road last week, while the Colts lost to Washington in Sam Ehlinger’s first start. The Colts just haven’t been good on offense all year, no matter who plays quarterback. But they showed some signs of life last week. The Patriots haven’t been much better on offense, but I think their defense will win this one. Is it close.

Take: Patriots 21, Colts 17

Buffalo Bills (-13) at the New York Jets

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured Game | New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills

The Jets are coming off a tough loss to the Patriots in which the offense was poor. Zach Wilson needs to get his game back. The Bills can roll a lot on offense, which they will do against the Jets defense. The Jets will not be able to follow. Buffalo continues.

Take: Bills 37, Jets 23

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured Game | Washington Commanders vs. Minnesota Vikings

It’s suddenly a big game as the Commanders have won three in a row. The Vikings have snatched five straight games. Minnesota didn’t eliminate the teams, but found a way. The commanders defense has been playing better lately and I think that will be the case here. The commanders take him slightly annoyed.

Take: Commanders 27, Vikings 26

Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

Featured Game | Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are in the top spot in the NFC West, getting there with a good offense as the defense improves. Arizona has the offense, but the defense has also struggled. It’s going to be a high-scoring game, but I think Seattle’s offense will make the most of it.

Take: Seahawks 30, Cardinals 28

Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

Featured Game | Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Los Angeles Rams

When the schedule came out, it looked like the game of the week. It is now a survival test. Both teams are in trouble. So which one can knock it down? I’m going with the Bucs. They’re at home and their offense isn’t as tough as the Rams. Tom Brady wins.

Take: Bucks 24, Rams 17

Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC, FuboTV)

Featured Game | Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tennessee Titans

It’s the match of the week, featuring Derrick Henry versus Patrick Mahomes. It’s the runner against the setter. Give me the ferryman. The Titans are playing their second straight road game, while the Chiefs have a bye and coach Andy Reid is outstanding after a bye. It’s a big advantage for Kansas City, but Henry will keep his team.

Take: Chiefs 31, Titans 21

Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN, FuboTV)

Featured Game | New Orleans Saints vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens will be rested after playing in Tampa Bay last Thursday. They ran the ball over 200 yards in that game. That won’t happen against this Saints defence. Look for the New Orleans defense to continue playing well after shutting out the Raiders last week.

Take: Saints 26, Ravens 20
