WWE CROWN JEWEL LIVE BLOG AND MATCH COVERAGE

No words today. As is my usual practice with these shows, I will use my platform here to express my displeasure with WWE’s relationship with Saudi Arabia. Specifically, because of my nature as a queer polyamorous trans woman, Saudi Arabia is, um… not very friendly with people like meand so seeing WWE act as a propaganda arm for this regime really sucks sometimes.

It was only by chance, through the accidental details of my birth, to a supportive family, in a country that (despite growing amounts of transphobia in the media) fundamentally supports my right to exist, that I have been able to be the woman I am, find love with my beautiful wife and beautiful girlfriends, and it breaks my heart to think of my siblings and non-binary siblings who weren’t so lucky.

Plus, it’s an added stressor that the Kingdom Holding Company (effectively owned by Prince Alwaleed) now owns around 4% of Twitter. Twitter has long been a community hub for queer people and especially the transgender community, and it’s where I met my wife and girlfriends. To grapple with the knowledge that interests so openly hostile to our existence will now have sway over such a large social media platform is daunting to say the least. (Thanks to my beautiful wife for pointing out that last point – I had more than I wanted to say today but ran out of time because those Saturday afternoon shows are killing me with my routine.)

But as always, I refuse to sit down and leave my colleagues here at Cageside Seats, who have played such an important role in making me feel comfortable being outside and proud to be the woman I am. (and who have no problem calling the WWE Saudi deal for exactly what it is), high and dry, so I blog live on the show.

Off to the show!

The show opens with Titus O’Neil narrating a Crown Jewel quality video package.

Bobby Lashley vs. Brock Lesnar

Lashley with an early blitz, knocking Lesnar to the floor and injuring his knee, throwing him around the ring, back inside, a spear… NO! Hurt Lock reversed into a German suplex, another German suplex, the F-5… STILL NO! Bob comes back, knocking him back to the ground, the fireman carries and he puts the Beast in the ringpost!

Back inside, Hurt Lock applied in the middle of the ring, Lesnar makes his way to the turnbuckles…

Brock Lesnar wins by pinfall by reversing the hairpin Hurt Lock.

After the match, Lashley puts Brock back in the Hurt Lock and smothers him in a brighter shade of purple than usual.

We get a Liv Morgan video package.

Alexa Bliss and Asuka are interviewed backstage by Byron Saxton, who is wearing an incredibly loud Transformers Generation 2 colorful costume. Bliss says you can’t put them on the shelf for a few weeks and get rid of them, it’s months of retaliation coming to haunt Damage CTRL.

Alexa Bliss and Asuka (c) vs. Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and IYO SKY) (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship)

Bliss and Kai to start, Dakota taking control with an armbar, whip in the corner, up and down, Alexa asking for more! At the corner, elbow up, into the turnbuckles, jockey for position, hairpin reverse arm drag, cover for two. Trading quick pins to no avail, Kai punches her in the face!

Reverse whip, the downhill works for once, but Dakota puts it on the ropes and makes the tag. SKY wants a slam, Bliss floats away! Circling, off the ropes, IYO with a lariat, Asuka returns the favor with a shoulder block and pulls out. Double suplex, SKY lands on her feet but the babyface team hits a bulldog/facebreaker combination for two!

Tag to Kai, dropkick the cup, Asuka connects, knocks Damage CTRL off the ropes, stereo baseball slides follow! Back inside, Dakota’s work leg holds, tag to IYO, the dragon screw connects, and Asuka is in for a rough patch! Tag to Bliss, get hot, fight them two for one, palm strikes and kicks, double dropkick expose them!

SKY with a backbreaker, Alexa stops her from going upstairs and trips her to set up a Yoshi Tonic… NO! Above, jockeys for the job, the four women involved… THE TOWER OF LOSS! Asuka legal, missile dropkick on Kai, uraken after uraken, kick combo, Codebreaker, German bridge suplex!

Twisted Bliss, knees up, match crashes, Asuka dodges an Asai Moonsault and rings the alarm clock! Alexa with a DDT, up top Nikki Cross comes in and trips her up with referee Aja Perera busy, hanging the DDT up top! Kai with a blanket…

Damage CTRL wins the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship via pinfall with Dakota Kai side pressing Alexa Bliss.

We see Logan Paul walk into the arena and talk about how he’s going to win tonight.

Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross (Steel Cage Match)

McIntyre dodges a lariat and goes straight in with his own jabs, Kross lands a few licks, a reverse whip, a front kick and a lariat and Drew gets him off the ground! Chops and punches to the ropes, big suplex backs and McIntyre is fired up! Karrion with a throat punch, looking to get out while Drew gasps, but he gets cut!

Kross turns the tide on the floor again, trading chops with McIntyre, smashing his face against the cage wall, choking him in the corner! Drew explodes with lariats, belly-to-belly suplex, crushing Karrion into steel! Kross goes under him, floats over, into the cage, back elbow, McIntyre hits the Michinoku Driver for two!

Up top, jockey for position, Drew with the belly-to-belly spider superplex! Karrion recovers, pulls him up, but McIntyre knocks him into the steel first and follows with a spinebuster, jackknife pin… NO! THE KROSSJACKET IS INSIDE, BUT DREW MOVES INTO HIS OWN SLEEPER!

McIntyre follows it up with an instant DDT, kip-up, countdown but Scarlett is on the cage to run interference! Kross with the sleeper, he doesn’t have his arm stuck and Drew is able to push him into the cage! The north bend puts McIntyre down, Karrion spins before deciding to climb the cage, but Drew wakes up and climbs after him!

Scarlett opens the door so her boyfriend can get through but when Drew cuts him off and beats him up, she punches him, shuts it, locks it and takes the key away! McIntyre climbs in as she struggles to unlock the door and lets Karrion crawl out…

Drew McIntyre wins by escaping the cage.

We see Roman Reigns and the Bloodline arrive in the arena, minus Sami Zayn.

Reigns refuses to answer a question about Logan’s “lucky punch” and Solo Sikoa then moves on to Byron Saxton. Paul Heyman walks up and scoffs at the idea of the fluke.

Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor) vs. The CO (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows)

Balor and Anderson to start, waistline, front kicks, back and forth as I’m distracted by Michael Cole talking about Karl being the NEVER Openweight Championship, what a world we live in. , tag to Gallows and the big man crushes young Mysterio!

Big bodyslam, off the ropes for a nudge, taking him into the turnbuckles, fast tags, AJ presents him with an outright brainbuster! A bit of action on the floor sees Anderson sprawled by a push kick from Priest and now it’s judgment day in control!

Fast tags, working long on Machine Gun until it tags Luke! Gallows launches Mysterio, knocks him out with a lariat, a big forehand and a kick for Damian, a backsplash and he drags some cargo through Dominik! Pumphandle slam, back to Anderson!

Magic Killer stuck while Priest makes the save! Tag made, Styles in hot, releasing Balor and Priest in turn! Slingshot, sliding knee for Mysterio, slingshot inside, 1916 reversed in Ushigoroshi! Finn with a four figure leg, Karl smashes it with a senton! Dom sends him running… GANTRY IN GAS MASK!
