20 Reasons I’m So Glad Keanu Reeves Is “Still Walking Among Us”

In the leaked quotes in question, Perry talks about the passing of his friend, River Phoenix. Of his death, he said, “Why do original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?”

And that wasn’t the only mention of Keanu either. Later in the book, while discussing Chris Farley’s passing, Perry states, “I punched a hole in the wall of Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room when I found out. Keanu Reeves walks among us.”

Well, the internet wasn’t too happy with these very weird comments about the universally beloved actor:

That’s such a shitty thing to say, especially when Keanu Reeves was devastated by River’s death. also proof that keanu reeves is 200x the man that matthew perry will ever be. https://t.co/aUKQWeN34h

This morning, Perry issued an apology, telling People, “I’m actually a huge Keanu fan. I just picked a random name, my mistake. I apologize.”

So instead of focusing on the negative, I’ve put together a few moments that help show why I’m personally very happy Keanu is still walking among us. Here are a few :

Or when he waited in line for 20 minutes to get in her own end-of-year party because he “didn’t want to be rude”. Driver Ronny Sunshine said: “Keanu was really patiently waiting. I don’t think he said anything to the bouncer, like, ‘I’m Keanu’. No one recognized him.”

Or how he donates large sums of money to children’s hospitals, saying, “I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps a few children’s hospitals and cancer research. I don’t like to attach my name, I let the foundation do what they do.”

Or the time he hung out with his fellow travelers after a flight on which he had to make an emergency landing:

Or how he springs from his teammates in the most delicious way, from his “wife” Winona Ryder…:

Or how about when he found out that Sandra Bullock had never tried “truffles and champagne”, so one day he randomly brought flowers, champagne and truffles. Upon arrival, Sandra remembered him saying, “I just thought you could try some champagne and truffles, to see what it’s like.”

Or when she discusses why she chose to return for the fourth installment of the Matrix franchise, her co-star Carrie-Anne Moss said: “We went through this experience together as partners. The only way I can describe it is as a soul friendship. Most of my scenes are with Keanu, and it was just a pleasure to sit across from him and do it again. He has a masterful understanding of acting. I’ve seen him grow over the last 20 years. I’m in awe of that.

Or when he gave a thoughtful and poignant answer to the question “What do you think happens to us when we die?” — which takes on even more meaning when you know your own experience of loss:

To clear up this post, let’s move on to some more silly stuff, like how he revealed that he was actually kind of into astrology instead of being one of those people “that’s stupid and you’re stupid to like it”:

Or how, before being an actor, he was a journalist and covered things like “National Teddy Bear Day“, offering us these clips without an ounce of cynicism:

Before KEANU REEVES became a movie star, he was a traveling reporter for Canada’s CBC, covering “National Teddy Bear Day”.

Or when he reacted to being officially dubbed “the internet’s boyfriend” by calling it “wacky” and talking about embracing all “positivity”:

Keanu Reeves had no idea he was the internet’s latest boyfriend. 😂 https://t.co/SeGQxMqzup

Or how he’s not ~ a method actor, ~ and instead just a dumb goose. Like when he got a little too in character for his hosting role in toy story 4producer Mark Nielsen noting that, while having lunch with him after getting the part, “He climbed up on a table and struck some poses in the middle of the atrium and we thought that is Duke Caboom!”

Or how he played an absurd version of himself in Always be my maybeproving he’s cool enough to poke fun at himself:

And, of course, how he played one of the greatest action heroes in recent memory, John Wick, for three – about to be four – perfect movies:

Or, you know, the countless memes he has gifted us over the years, like the iconic “YOU’RE BREATHTAKING” moment:
